Here is the clip from the movie Expelled where Richard Dawkins says he has heard from a lot of people that they feel a sense of liberation when they give up God. Ben Stein asks him out of the 8 billion people in the world, how many he has heard from. His response is priceless.

Perhaps silencing the conscience does bring a sense of relief. However, couldn't that also be experiencing the unpardonable sin and one of satan's great deceptions?
Richard Dawkins certainly can't have heard from all the people in the world who've experienced a sense of freedom in learning that something they'd always believed to be true wasn't (and one doesn't have to restrict that to belief/nonbelief in God/gods). That would certainly be an interesting study, however; there must be a doctoral dissertation in there for someone.
Note that Dawkins isn't the only one throwing numbers around; world population hasn't even hit 7 billion, let alone 8 billion.
I wanted to share with you something that you would really enjoy I think. A year or so ago, Dawkins came here to Birmingham for a debate hosted by a university between he and John Lennox. It was riveting and passionate and Lennox made all Christians proud by his intelligence, generosity, wit, and poise. It will be worth every penny you spend. Get the CD OR the DVD. Either is excellent.

Why does the guy bother opening his mouth? I'd say he was having a hard time finding his words... and having them make any sense!!
Thanks to all, for your thoughts. And Greenchikadee: thanks for the reference. I would very much like to see that debate. Is there anywhere that it is free??
You can google for clips: Dawkins & Lennox Debate, but not the whole entirety. I heard it last year on the radio, but I'm getting it for my brother for Christmas. Shhhh.
